If you all have followed me for a while you know I have been dreaming about staying in an A Frame for a long time now. Luckily for me, El Alma A Frame helped me make that dream come true!
Situated just outside Alma, Colorado, this A Frame cabin puts you in an awesome location. It is minutes from Fairplay, and a quick drive over Hoosier Pass to Breckenridge. So this is an incredible basecamp for you if you want to ski in the winter but be able to also escape the crowds and relax after a long day on the slopes.
The cabin sleeps 4-6, is pet friendly with a fenced in yard, and has incredible mountain views right off the front porch. If you want to have a movie night or need to work from home during your trip, they have Starlink giving you a fast connection, and all the major streaming services.
For people who want to disconnect, the firepit out front is an incredible place for spotting the foxes that live nearby, and the hot tub out back immerses you in the forest for the ultimate relaxing vibes. Just know that in the winter you do need 4WD to reach this cabin off of the dirt road! The drive is worth it, and you are welcomed in with a coffee station, snacks and such a cozy home to call your own.
Venture into Alma to grab a bite at Otto’s (trust me on this), and try out of one the challenging hikes in the area if you come in the warmer months! Several 14ers are right outside of Alma, including Mount Democrat which is a great option if you’ve never hiked one before! And then after a long day, enjoy stargazing from the cabin’s front porch or just soak in the mountain view from the upstairs master bedroom.
