Explore Creede with Headwaters Haus

Hi adventure fam! Have you ever heard of Creede, Colorado? I was born in CO and just visited this town for the first time at almost 30 years old! Trust me when I say I wish I had discovered this hidden gem sooner.

We got invited to stay at Headwaters Haus which is just minutes from Main Street in Creede. This stunning cabin sits right on the Rio Grande with a perfect back deck to soak in the sounds of the river and some stunning mountain views.

Headwaters Haus is dog friendly, has 2 bedrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, multiple fireplaces and is just minutes from so many adventures! The sunroom and back deck were both places I would sit forever if I could, and nothing beats a summer evening grilling with a gorgeous mountain view!

Whether you are looking for an intimate getaway to just relax or a family vacation to a scenic area of the state, this cabin has something for everyone! Plus your local hosts are so wonderful and had suggestions of all the best things to do in the area. Here are some of my favorites!

1. Hiking

   We hiked several gorgeous trails here, and you really can't go wrong, but my favorites were North and South Clear Creek Falls. South Clear Creek Falls is more of a trail, but is still very short with a huge payoff of a flowing waterfall in a secluded canyon. North Clear Creek Falls is actually one you can basically drive right up to! However there are some short walking paths around with beautiful views that I recommend checking out.

   
   

2. Wildlife Spotting

   Wildlife is abundant in this area! You have the chance to see Rocky Mountain Sheep, elk, moose, bears, deer and so many types of birds. Just driving around we saw so many sheep up close which was incredible.

3. Check out downtown

   Downtown Creede is adorable! Check opening hours since this is a small town and things often close early or randomly, but don't miss breakfast at Vida, dinner at Kip's and for some great Creede gifts check out Downstream Gas and Mercantile!

   
   

4. Fishing

   If fishing is your thing, one of the best places to do it is in Creede! And the hosts of Headwaters Haus have information on locations you can go as well as any info needed to fish responsibly in the area!

   
   

5. ATVing

Because this area is more remote there is so much off roading opportunity! The most famous route is definitely the Bachelor Historic OHV Loop. Before attempting, know your skill level with off roading and use caution always!

This is just scratching the surface of everything to do in this area of Colorado, and I know I will be back soon.
